Background

MHE seeks apartment property acquisitions throughout the United States. Primary growth is desired in California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and Utah.

Type: Apartment Communities or Student Housing

Size: One hundred units and up in new or existing markets, single property transactions to multiple property portfolios, trade area with a minimum population of 50,000, Class “A” and “B” product and location properties less than 30 years old, but will consider older, well-located apartment communities that will benefit from rehabilitation.

Investment Structure: In addition to traditional real estate secured commercial loans (construction, revolving, and permanent loans), previous transactions have included mortgage-backed public debt financings and letter of credit supported bond financing. We have extensive experience in every variation on the theme of loan syndication and participation, conduit financing, mezzanine financing, interest rate and currency swaps, sale/leasebacks, mixed debt/equity financings, joint venture and partnership investments, and other special purpose and creative financing structures.

Special Interests: Properties in which buyer can add value through improved property management, lease-up, refurbishment and capital improvements, etc.
