MHE began its dive into Student Housing in late 2006 with a purchase adjacent to the University of Southern California.  The small building presented MHE with an unrivaled business model that has been enacted in the years since.

MHE has the capacity and contacts to Finance, Build, Rehab, and Turn Around Student properties Nationwide.

MHE actively owns, manages and seeks to acquire new Student Housing Projects adjacent to Universities primarilly along the West Coast.

MHE’s Acquisition Criteria for Student Housing are as follows: (LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION)

  • 100+ Beds within walking distance to a Four-Year University (tier 1 or tier 2).
  • Value Add opportunity.  Strong demand allows us to effectively add value through significant property improvements.
  • Under-Managed, Mis-Managed Student Properties.
  • Older properties with significant Deferred Maintenance.
  • Markets where school enrollment is growing.
  • Portfolios of smaller properties (where larger ones are generally unavailable) that can be centrally managed.
